Every Story Matters. Every Child Deserves Better.

Your Story Deserves to Be Heard.

Chesterfield Voices is an independent community initiative examining racial discrimination, institutional responses, and potential gaps in accountability across Chesterfield County Public Schools.

Beyond the Official Record

What happens that never becomes part of the official picture, and why?

Official reports and datasets do not capture every experience. Some concerns are never reported. Some are reported verbally and never written down. Some are recorded under a different category, or are handled in ways families never hear about. Records may also be limited by privacy rules, retention schedules, or how data is collected.

Chesterfield Voices compares what community members describe, and what their own records show, with what official sources can and cannot tell us. We treat any gap as a question to examine, not as proof that something was hidden.

How we review reports →

Every story makes the picture more accurate

Official numbers only count what gets reported, recorded, and categorized. When families, students, and educators share what they lived through, we can see what those numbers leave out.

Chesterfield Voices is independent. We are community members who want to see change, not part of the school system, law enforcement, or government.

How it works

  1. Share privately. Adults complete a short online form. Families and educators each have their own pathway. No account or email address is needed.
  2. We tell the whole story, not just the incident. We ask what happened after a concern was raised: who was told, whether anyone acknowledged it, and what was communicated back.
  3. Trained volunteers review it carefully. Reports about the same event are combined. Documents are reviewed only with permission. Every account is labeled by what supports it.
  4. We report patterns, not people. Findings are combined and anonymized, and the district is given a chance to respond before anything is published.

Who can participate

Parents and guardians, former students, current and former school employees, coaches, volunteers, and adult witnesses. A parent or guardian can share on behalf of a current student. Experiences from any year are welcome.

Not in Chesterfield? You can still share. Tell us which Virginia county or city school division it was. We keep other divisions separate from Chesterfield findings.

Your privacy

Submissions are never posted online and nothing is published without your separate permission. No online form can guarantee anonymity; our privacy notice explains the limits plainly.

Know your options

Sharing with us is not a formal complaint and does not pause any deadline. Know Your Rights explains how to file with the school division or a civil rights agency.

An independent community initiative

Chesterfield Voices is informal and community-led. It is not part of Chesterfield County Public Schools or any government agency, not a law firm, and not a registered nonprofit. It does not provide legal representation and does not accept donations.
